OVER P27 M WORTH OF SMUGGLED CIGARETTES, SEIZED IN HAGONOY, DAVAO DEL SUR
Camp Quintin Merecido, Buhangin, Davao City- Police Regional Office 11 personnel from RSOG-RPDEU XI, Digos Police Station, Regional Intelligence Division (RID), Integrity Monitoring Enforcement Group in coordination with Bureau of Customs successfully apprehended via buybust operation Tapsaren Alibasa of Aplaya, Hagonoy, Davao del Sur at 8:30 AM; March 24, 2022.
The suspect was caught in the act of selling six (6) packs of HOODLUM Brand cigarettes in exchange for One (1) pc genuine Php500 peso bill. The “poseur buyer” during the course of their transaction was able to see in plain view that there were firearms in the terrace of the suspect’s house which led to the recovery of (1) unit Caliber .45 Colt Para-Ordnance with SN 218713 short firearm chamber loaded with one (1) .45 live ammunition inserted with One (1) magazine loaded with Six (6) .45 live ammunitions; One (1) unit Caliber .45 Colt Armscor with SN RIA1883143 short firearm chamber loaded with one (1) .45 live ammunition inserted with One (1) magazine loaded with Six (3) .45 live ammunition, One (1) magazine with Six (4) .45 live ammunition; One (1) magazine loaded with Six (6) 9mm live ammunition; and fifteen (15) pcs 9mm live ammunition.
Also recovered in the area are four hundred (690) boxes of smuggled cigarettes in different brands with an estimated value of Php 27,600,000.
The said suspect will be charged for violation against RA 1937 and RA 10863 (Customs And Tariff Code/ Administration); RA 8293 (Intellectual Property Code of the Philippines); RA 7394 (Consumer Act of the Philippines); Article 189 of the Revised Penal Code (Unfair competition, fraudulent registration of trademark, tradename or service mark, fraudulent designation of origin, and false description.); and RA 10591 ( Comprehensive Law On Firearms And Ammunition).
This operation would reflect the strong coordination between other government agencies and the PNP. And as what PBGEN BENJAMIN H SILO, JR has asked from the PRO 11 personnel to quote: “I am expecting everyone to perform their best. Let us put into practice the true spirit of public service. Walang yabang, walang abuso.” PRO 11 indeed is continuously scoring in its effort against criminalities and lawlessness.
