Camp Sgt Quintin M Merecido, Davao City- A 37 year-old businessman was cuffed by police officers at PNP/TF Davao Fixed Checkpoint, Licanan, Lasang, Davao City yesterday for illegal possession of firearms, said PBGen Marcelo C Morales, Regional Director.

Investigation disclosed that at about 5:40 PM of September 9, 2019, Police Officers and Task Force Davao Security Forces arrested ALVIN PARAHJA ABDUL, 37 years old, married, businessman and a resident of Neila Village, Km. 11, Sasa, Davao City after checking up on his vehicle, in plain view the said security officers saw a firearm which is a.45 Caliber Pistol (Taurus) bearing serial number NCT19425 with one (1) inserted magazine loaded with nine (9) live ammunitions believed to be from .45 caliber pistol inside his vehicle.

However, when asked with pertinent documents of the said firearm, he failed to present any thus led to his arrest.

“Our fight against criminality continues, in fact more intensified. With the recent bombings in Isulan and Sulu, we do not want to be complacent with our security measures. We have to be 24/7 alert and we will conscientiously perform our job,”

Charges for violation of RA 10591 (Illegal Possession of Firearms and Explosives) are now being prepared the arrested businessman.
