Camp Sgt. Quintin M Merecido, Buhangin, Davao City- An armed drug suspect was neutralized by CDEU Personnel of Digos City Police Station after a heated exchange of firefight in a buy bust operation yesterday.

PBGen Marcelo C Morales disclosed that at
around 11:00 PM of October 2, 2019, CDEU operatives and Intel personnel of Digos CPS conducted anti- illegal drug operation at Bangay, Teachers Village, Mabini Ext., Zone III, Digos City near Imdin residence against JAY-AR SIAREZ alias “OPAW”, of legal age, a resident of Zone 1, Digos City which resulted in his untimely demise.

Further, investigation recorded that after consummating the transaction, the suspect noticed that the person who bought the drug item was a police officer which prompted him to pull his short firearm and fired once to his police poseur buyer. Luckily, the said police officer was able to evade and left him no choice but to fire back to the suspect who was pointing his firearm again towards his position while starting to run away from the scene.

The suspect then was hit on the chest and on his right thigh and was immediately brought to Davao del Sur Provincial Hospital by the operatives of Digos CPS for medical attention but was later pronounced dead by the attending physician, Dr. Clapano.

Recovered from the possession and control of JAY-AR SIAREZ, alias “OPAW” were the following: Four (4 ) pieces of heat sealed transparent plastic sachet containing suspected methamphetamine hydrochloride or “shabu”; one (1) piece funnel containing suspected shabu residue; one (1) piece weighing scale, suspected marijuana leaves, one (1) unit cal. 38 revolver without serial number with five (5) live ammunitions, one (1) piece cartridge case loaded on the cylinder, one (1) piece black coin purse, one (1) piece scissor, one (1) unit Yamaha mio motorcycle without plate number, one (1) piece of plate number bearing number MC17087 placed inside the compartment of the same yamaha mio motorcycle and two (2) pieces fired cartridge cases that were recovered from the crime scene.

The estimated street value of the confiscated drug items amounted to more or less
Php 43,500.00 and has an estimated weight of MOL 5 grams.

Meanwhile, PBGen Morales commended the operatives for their efficiency and good police work with the neutralization of the armed suspect and warned that the PNP will continue to penetrate every corner of the region and will spare NO ONE in the campaign against illegal drugs to win the battle.
