Camp Sgt Quintin M Merecido, Davao City- A 41 year-old former AFP member and his companion was cuffed by police officers manning choke point at Provincial Road of Purok 3, Brgy. Madaum, Tagum City. Earlier, this morning, said PBGen Marcelo C Morales, Regional Director.

Investigation disclosed that at about 1:00 AM, personnel of Tagum City Police Station and RMFB 11 conducted Choke Point Operation at the said area as area security during the joint buy bust operation at the said place and halted two individuals on a motorcycle and arrest subsequently. They were identified as TERSIE JONES GALIT BESIRE, 41-years old, former AFP member, married and a resident of Pilar Village, Brgy. Apokon, Tagum City (driver) for possessing one (1) unit COLT MK IV caliber .45 pistol with serial number FA08659, chamber loaded and magazine inserted loaded with five (5) live ammunition while his back rider, JUBAIL MARAUG CABAGUIO, 21-years old, married and a resident of Purok 1A, Brgy. Madaum, Tagum City for possessing one (1) unit COLT Government Model caliber .45 pistol with defaced serial number, chamber loaded and magazine inserted loaded with seven (7) live ammunition.

During thorough search, it was also recovered from the utility box of their black Honda XRM 125 motorcycles with temporary plate number 111004124155 one (1) MK2 fragmentation grenade. When asked with pertinent documents of the said firearms, he failed to present any thus led to their arrests.

Meanwhile, RD Morales immediately ordered Davao del Norte PPO Provincial Director, PCol Ranie P Hachuela to conduct thorough investigation on the background of the arrested persons.

Charges for violation of RA 10591 (Illegal Possession of Firearms and Explosives) and RA 9516 are now being prepared the arrested suspects who are currently detained at Tagum CPS.
