Camp Sgt Quintin M Merecido, Davao City-Police Regional Office 11 continues to apprehend persons violating RA 10591 or the “Comprehensive Law on Firearms and Ammunitions Regulation Act”.

PBGen Marcelo C Morales, Regional Director of PRO 11, announced that at around 4:55 PM, Digos CPS received a text message from a concerned citizen informing that there was a man who allegedly fired his short firearm at Manucay resident, Jacinto Zamora Street, Barangay Zone III, Digos City. Upon receipt of the information, personnel of CPS immediately proceeded to the said place to verify the veracity of the report.

Upon arrival of the responding pursuing officers, they were able to apprehend the suspect identified as ABDIEL AL MAALI MUALAM, 28 years old, male, single, security guard and a transient of Manucay Boarding House situated at corner Jacinto and Zamora Street, Brgy. Zone III, Digos City who allegedly fired his ARMSCOR 202 Caliber .38 revolver in the room rented by Angelica Gonzales hitting the ceiling of the said unit.

Initial investigation disclosed that at around 4:05 PM, according to the witnesses who were also transients of the said boarding house that the suspect went wild and fired his firearm. They also manifested that the suspect was under the influence of intoxicating liquor.

The police officers recovered from the position of the respondent: one (1) unit of ARMSCOR 202 Caliber .38 revolver with three (3) live ammos and one (1) fired cartridge.

The pieces of evidences were immediately brought to Digos CPS for recording and for proper disposition while the arrested suspect will face charges for violating RA 10591 and Alarm and Scandal.

Meanwhile, PBGen Morales said that PRO 11 is leaving no stone unturned in ensuring peace and order in the region.

“Especially now that we are committed to sustaining the downtrend in crime incidents. Sa mga gun owners or holders, let this incident serve as a reminder that possessing gun requires a lot of responsibility. Huwag po natin gamitin ito para makapanakit o makapaminsala ng ibang tao,” he ended.
