Camp Sgt Quintin M Merecido, Davao City- The Police Regional Office 11 through its Public Information Office conducted a Two-Day Training/Seminar of public information officials from the different provincial offices and police stations in the Davao Region on Media Relations which was opened today (September 27) at Pulis Bagani Hall, Camp Sgt Quintin M Merecido, Davao City.
Emphasis are on the issues management
and advocacy on Police Media Relations, with the aim of the promoting consistency and credibility in public pronouncements by enhancing competencies of unit commanders and public information officers in the proper engagement and sharing of information to the media.
In his message, Police Brigadier General Marcelo C Morales, stated not to underestimate community relations through information because any remarks made by the PNP personnel does not only affect the positive accomplishments of the PNP but also hamper the organization’s vision to become a highly capable, effective and credible police service.
The said activity was spearheaded by PRO 11-PIO led by Police Major Jason Baria, Chief PIO, in partnership with Philippine Information Agency XI (PIA XI) headed by its Regional Director, Frances Mae G Macapagat, our guest of honor together with her team and other guest lecturers: Ms. Ruth P. Galario (President, AFP-PNP Press Corps), and Ms. Jandi Esteban (GMA-Davao).
Part of the topics discussed/ to be discussed to the more than one hundred twenty (120) participants were/will be Photo and Video Production, Basic News/PR Writing, Effective Communication Strategies through PR/Media Lines Writing, Utilization of Social Media to Improve Public Relations and Public Speaking. The seminar will end tomorrow with giving of certificates to the participants.
